BODY and PLACE 2025
BODY and PLACE is an ongoing series of annual summer drawing residencies which take the model outside the confines of the life room. The aim is to free life drawing from its usual staid environment and breathe new energy into it. The residencies offer an opportunity for artists of all disciplines, including sculptors, and at all stages of their careers, including those who do not normally or regularly draw from the figure, to work under the guidance of skillful and passionate tutors in extraordinary surroundings. In 2025, BODY and PLACE returns to Owlpen Manor, a private 200 acre estate in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire for 4 days of exploratory drawing workshops led by tutor Martin Morris, with a life model. Participating artists will be selected by theCOLAB director Claire Mander and a panel of experts in the field of drawing including Ketty Gottardo, Courtauld Institute of Art; Luce Garrigues, London Art Week; Roger Malbert, writer and curator; Chris Stephens, director of the Holburne Museum; artist Sarah Dwyer and artist Holly Stevenson.
Previous BODY and PLACE recipients have ranged from recent graduates such as Camillia Bliss to mid-career and established artists including Laura Ford, Claire Morgan, LR Vandy and Alison Wilding.
